Its Monday 23rd September 2013 and a weekend of birding.

I hope you are sitting comfortably for more tales from the Luangwa. The season so far has been an absolute corker with some phenomenal wildlife sightings but there is always one species which is a constant come what may – birds.

We have recently had Simon Cousins in with some of his colleagues and over the weekend they racked up some 155 different birds – this is all in just 2 days!!!! I mean phenomenal. So instead of going through everything I thought why not give a pictorial account for what they saw – that plus whilst birds are wonderful they are not ones for great unusual stories!

So here are some pictures for you:

The weekend wasn’t just birds; they also had the fabulous flying baboon as they were entertained by this teenager trying his bouncing and pouncing skills on a nearby branch.

Kudu playing peek-a-boo! They are just magnificent antelope; so graceful and with such wonderful markings – and this year they appear to be in abundance which is a real gift!

And not to mention the magnificent leopard – posing gracefully for the camera before deciding to go off and strut his stuff.

Another fabulous weekend – thanks for the photos Simon and hopefully we will see you back out in the Valley soon.

Before I sign off though I am going to leave you with another couple of images of an amazing sighting had by some guests a few weeks back here at Nkwali of a honey badger doing some serious damage to a tortoise! We all know that they have a ferocious reputation but this just goes to show the power behind their jaws and claws.
